Meteorological Measuring Set-Profiler

Smiths Detection has come out with a next-generation, upper atmospheric measuring system called the Meteorological Measuring Set-Profiler. This field artillery meteorological system was recently purchased by the U.S. Army and "delivers data three times faster than existing systems and expands the range of field by 200 percent" (National Defense, September 2005).

Covering weather conditions exceeding 500 km of battle space, the system provides updates every half-hour. Given that the Meteorological Measuring Set-Profiler is designed to support the new generation of artillery weapons and is operable with AFATDS, HIMARS, IMETS, MLRS and FDS, this new capability will increase the lethality and effectiveness of all field artillery platforms.
